CI: Stories of Detention, Refuge, and Hospitality
Through this Creative Inquiry Project, I have had the unique opportunity to have an intimate look at immigration detention in the United States through multiple trips to Stewart Detention Center in Lumpkin, GA. I have been able to take part in sharing the unique narratives of those impacted by immigrant detention in the US and have analyzed ways we can shift this dialogue to be more constructive and reflective of the importance of advocating for the human rights of all. This research project has been instrumental in deepening my commitment to advocacy work.
Planned Parenthood Generation Action
As Vice President of PPGA, I have had many opportunities to promote reproductive justice among the campus community. We have contributed menstrual products to Clemson Paw's Pantry, provided educational discourse on body politics, and have tabled to advocate for menstrual equity. Through this organization, I have developed a strong passion for reproductive rights and the unification of human rights with healthcare access.
CI: Narratives of the Incarcerated
This Creative Inquiry Project is focused on understanding the stories of incarcerated individuals. I was able to complete a project related to the medical-industrial complex and how the provision of medical care in prison systems is impacted by a host of ethical and moral issues. The project also focuses on engaging with the written works of those who are currently incarcerated as well as drawing comparisons to the US carceral system and those across the world.
